The contents of the Earth’s various layers are under pressure. Even a child knows when you take an object (say a soda can) which is under pressure and shake it up (like the offshore drilling process) and the open the can (collect the oil) the result is an explosion and a big mess… We are now seeing that not only is the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico impossible to clean up, it is also extremely difficult to stop!
